• Long-Lasting Results: Sugaring and waxing removes hair from the root. Shaving only removes the top of the hair above the skin. By removing hair from the root, it takes longer to grow back.

• Smoother Skin: Sugaring and waxing exfoliates the skin and removes dead skin cells and hair, leaving your skin healthier, smoother and softer.

• Reduced Hair Growth Over Time: Regular treatments result in finer, softer, and less hair over time.

• Minimal Irritation: Compared to other hair removal processes like shaving, sugar and wax are much gentler: typically resulting in less irritation and ingrown hairs.

Wax:

• Material: Uses wax which is often a mix of resin, beeswax, and oils. There are many types and formulations of wax. Sugar Cookie Wax tries to use only the most gentle and natural formulations for your skin health,

• Application: Applied in the direction of hair growth and then removed against it.

• Effectiveness: Effective for various hair types, but especially useful for thick and coarse hair

• Hair Length: Requires hair to be at least 1/2 inch long for optimal results.

Sugar:

• Material: Uses a sugar-based paste made of sugar lemon and water. Just like wax, there are many formulations of sugar paste some adding helpful pro and pre-biotics for skin health.

• Application: Applied against the direction of hair growth and removed in the same direction, mimicking the action of tweezing.

• Effectiveness: Best for fine to medium hair

• Pain: Generally less painful as the paste only adheres to the hair, not the skin and also does not have to be heated as hot as wax making it less hot.

• Hair Length: Can remove shorter hair (1/16 - 1/4 inch) compared to waxing,

While waxing and sugaring are generally considered safe for everyone, even those with sensitive skin, there are some medical contraindications. Sugar Cookie Wax takes your health and safety seriously. We may change recommendations of products and/or services upon a physical exam and review of your client intake information, require medical release from your treating doctor, and may have to refuse service if you have contraindication at time of your appointment.

The classic Bikini aka Bikini Line removes about 2 inches along the inner thigh meaning only the hair that would normally extend past your underwear or swimsuit/Bikini.

A Full Bikini covers the sides, front and back of the Bikini or underwear line including the tip and a butt strip.

A Hollywood removes all the hair from the Bikini are including the mons pubis, labia, perineum, and anus resulting in a completely hairless appearance. Currently, Sugar Cookie Wax does not offer Hollywood wax services.

A Mini Brazilian completely removes the hair from the front, leaving it totally bare.

A female anatomy Brazilian removes as much of the front and back of the Bikini area but leaves a small strip of shaped of hair on the mons pubis called a "landing strip". For male anatomy this includes the pubic mound, scrotum, perineum, and often the area between the butt cheeks.

A Brazilian Full Body is just that. Everything everywhere goes.

*Landing strips can be done in variety of shapes, such as strips, triangles, hearts etc. Talk to your esthetician about your options.

Everyone is different and experiences pain uniquely. How much pain you will feel is individual to you and your body. Sugar Cookie Wax estheticians are trained in gentle techniques to reduce pain and make your experience as pleasant and painless as possible. However, we are still removing hair from its root. Making hair less resistant to that process is the first key to reducing pain. Here are some additional tips to help the process and make your experience more comfortable.

1. Try to relax and breathe. Relaxation techniques can help lower stress hormones like cortisol which may help to reduce pain perception and has been shown to stimulate the release of endorphins, which have pain relieving properties

2. Music. We will have a variety of music options available for you to choose from to help relax, calm, or distract you from the process and help you to have a more enjoyable experience.

3. Hydration is key. Hydrated skin helps the hair soften, and results in less breakage and a healthier skin barrier. Try to avoid high salt diets, smoking, alcohol, and caffeine the day before and day of your appointment. These foods can dehydrate and can also act as stimulants and making your skin more sensitive.

4.Gently Exfoliate 24-48 hours before your appointment. This will help remove dead skin cells around the hair follicles making the hair easier to remove. It will also help the wax or sugar properly adhere to your hair, resulting in smoother, more efficient hair removal. Gentle exfoliation is the key. Do not use harsh scrubs which can irritate the skin and make it more sensitive to pain. Your esthetician can help you select the best exfoliation product for your situation.

5. OTC Medications. Some clients take an OTC medication like Tylenol or Ibuprofen (Advil) about an hour before the appointment This may take the edge of some of the pain they might experience. Please note that Ibuprofen (Advil) can thin blood and increase bleeding a bit. Please consult with your doctor before taking any medication.

6. Numbing Cream. Clients can purchase a numbing cream to apply to the treatment area at least 45 minutes before the appointment. Sometime numbing cream can affect how the sugar or wax adheres to the skin due to the oils and emollients in the formulas. We can recommend products if you are unsure, just reach out before your appointment and we can discuss.

7. Peroids. It is perfectly fine to schedule your appointment while on your period, however, some people find they are more sensitive during that time of the month. If that is you, we suggest scheduling your appointments right after your period.

8. Don’t let your first-time deter you. You are typically more sensitive at your first session due to the strength of your hair and the natural heightened awareness that comes with any new experience. With regular appointments, your hair will grow back softer and finer each time, making each session more comfortable.

9. Prioritize your skin care, and get on a year-round schedule. After all, Your Skin Deserves a Treat all year long, doesn’t it?

We take every precaution to prevent infection and ensure your treatment is sanitary.

We comply with all state and federal regulations governing the esthetics profession and follow strict protocols for cleaning, disinfection and sterilization. We set aside extra time between appointments to implement cleaning and sanitizing procedures.

Age Limits for Our Services

Minors 13 years and older are permitted to receive treatments at Sugar Cookie Wax with some conditions including but not limited to the consent of a Custodial Parental/Legal Guardian (Consenting Adult)

• All Services for Minors Exclude Intimate Services

• Under 15 no Bikini services

• 15+ Basic Bikini with Consent and Consenting Adult present during all treatments

• 16+ same as 15+ but Consenting Adult is only required to attend the first appointment and Basic Bikini

• For other Intimate Services clients MUST be 18+

The Consenting Adult must accompany the Minor for the Initial Client Consult, review and execute all required forms including a Health History Form and participate in a discussion between the Consenting Adult, the Minor, and the Esthetician to discuss the goals and expectations for treatment and services. The Minor Client and the Consenting Adult are equally responsible for making sure they both act appropriate and in accordance with these policies.

Everyone's hair grows back at different rates unique to them. With regular treatments your hair will grow back more sparse, finer, and lighter in color. It can eventually lead to hair not returning permanently. Here are some recommended follow up schedules:

• Eyebrows, Lip, Chin 2 weeks

• Underarms 2-3 weeks

• Bikini/Brazilian 3-4 weeks

• Face 4-5 weeks

• Arms/Legs 4-6 weeks

• Stomach/Back/Chest 4-6 weeks

To enjoy your event without physical limitations, we recommend booking at least 72 hours to a week before. Ideally, we suggest you receive a minimum of 3 treatments to see optimal results. That means, if you can plan ahead, booking 6 to 9 months prior to your event. This will help to minimize hair regrowth and get your body used to the waxing/sugaring process.

We do offer walk-in appointments; however, we book quickly and may not always be able to fit you into that day’s schedule. We advise you book ahead to ensure you’ll get service when you need it.

You are allowed up to one guest to accompany you to your session to provide optimal services and limit distractions during an appointment. All other guests must remain outside of the salon.

We respect our parents in the salon. We are parents as well. In our suite we use hot wax, sugar and heating elements as well as sharp tools. We also perform intimate services. Further we require focus to maintain your health and safety as well as ours. For the reason we ask you leave your children with a trusted caregiver for their safety, and so you can enjoy a positive experience without distractions.

We love all animals. However, due to the nature of our work and the strict infection control measures we must maintain, we do not allow pets or emotional support animals at this time.
